Wallet stolen from elderly man

Police are investigating after a thief stole a wallet from an
elderly man on a mobility scooter.

The incident happened in Dereham Road, Norwich, at about 10.40am
on Wednesday 4 September near to the Artful Dodger pub.

The victim, an 86-year-old man, was travelling on the pavement
on his mobility scooter when he was approached by a man who asked
him for the time.

As the victim looked down at his watch the suspect reached into
his top pocket and grabbed his wallet before running off towards
the ring road roundabout.

The brown leather wallet contained a Co-op store card and 80 in
cash and the victim was uninjured but left shaken by the
incident.

The suspect is described a white, about 6ft tall, of slim build
and about 18-years-old.

He was wearing a white hat and was said to
have a round face, plump cheeks and small nose.

Investigating officer, PC Martin Bentley, urged anyone with
information to come forward.

He said: This was a callous act against a vulnerable man and I
would encourage anyone with information about the incident or
offender to come forward.

This is a busy road and I m interesting in hearing from anyone
who may have been travelling in the area, by car or foot, around
10.40am.
