Man Admits Threatening Ex Girlfriend’s Mother
A 22 year old man appeared in Magistrates Court1 this morning Oct 28 where he was remanded in custody after being charged with threatening his ex-girlfriend s mother. Kevin Simmons pleaded guilty to uttering threatening words to the mother of his ex-girlfriend, by shouting out to her: Open that window or I ll beat s*** out of you. Prosecutor Carrington Mahoney told Senior Magistrate Archie Warner that in St George s on 23rd October 2013, Simmons was outside the residence of his ex-girlfriend, saw her mother at a window and shouted those words to her.
He also said I m gonna get you. The mother called police. When police arrived Simmons ran off, but was captured and arrested after a short chase.
He was taken to St George s Police Station where he was searched and questioned. The police search revealed the knife. On questioning, Simmons admitted the offence of using threatening words, and told Police that he carried the knife for protection.
Speaking to the Senior Magistrate, Simmons said that: I do daily patrols around the Island. I do it by myself. I ve been jumped and attacked and I carry a knife for protection.
The Senior Magistrate ordered a Social Inquiry Report and a Psychiatric Report, and remanded Simmons into custody until December 2013.
