Work Week in Reception Class Wells-next-the-Sea Primary and …
We started the week visiting the Greengrocers and Bakers in town, stopping to observe what was happening on the nearby building site on the way. When we returned to the classroom we turned the role play area into a shop, where the children have been enjoying exploring the role of shopkeeper, using the money and till and learning how to tidy the shop and keep it organised!
We have had lots of visitors; Isabella s dad came to talk to us about being a fisherman, the children were very interested by the lobster who came to visit. Adelaide s mum is a beautician and came to show us how to make a scrub with natural ingredients.
Adelaide s dad brought his fire engine and all the children enjoyed sitting in the cab and listening to the sirens.
We also had a visit from Becky the community police office who let the children try on her coat and hat and brought along her police truck.
We talked about the different jobs people do and we asked the children what they would like to do when they grow up.
They drew a picture and did some emergent writing about this.
