Norfolk Constabulary: Shoplifter jailed

31 January 2014

A 34-year-old man who was caught trying to steal perfume and aftershave in Asda in Norwich has been jailed for four months.

Charley Marrison, of Woodward Road, appeared at Norwich Magistrates Court yesterday where he pleaded guilty to shoplifting and attempted theft.

The shoplifting charge related to an incident on Wednesday 15 January at Asda when in the early hours of the morning Marrison entered the store and put aftershave and perfume in a basket underneath two pairs of jeans. He then went into the changing room and attempted to remove the tags.

Marrison was challenged by the store manager over his suspicious behaviour and insisted he was just trying on jeans. CCTV then captured Marrison trying to conceal the aftershave up his sleeve.

Staff then approached him, removed the goods and called police.

Meanwhile on Marrison was arrested in the city centre after trying to steal two electric razors worth 359 from Boots in Castle Mall but was prevented from leaving the store after being detained by security staff.

Police were called to the scene and Marrison was arrested.
