Suffolk police probe gunshot at PSEG LI office | Long Island …

Police on Long Island are investigating a report that a gunshot was fired at an unoccupied utility office.

A Suffolk County Police spokeswoman said the gunshot was apparently fired sometime overnight Tuesday into Wednesday.

The PSEG Long Island1 office was not staffed at the time and no injuries were reported.

PSEG Long Island spokesman Jeffrey Weir says company officials are assisting with the police investigation. He says the office is primarily used as a customer call center.

Weir says during Tuesday s snowstorm, about 7,000 of the utility s 1.1 million customers2 lost power at one point or another. The average restoration time was 47 minutes.

The utility took responsibility for electrical services on Long Island on Jan.

Its predecessor, LIPA, was replaced after a poor performance following Superstorm Sandy.
