The Academies Show Birmingham, taking place at The NEC in Birmingham on 27th November 2013, is the largest event in the UK dedicated to Academies.

Recently all learners attended an award night for our 50+ learners who attended our centre in Houghton Regis, Bedfordshire after completing their Flexible Support Fund programme for Jobcentre Plus6 (Kick Start).

All participants achieved qualifications and boosted their job skills and many have got into jobs.

Anglia TV has completed a documentary piece with a famous actor from The Bill on Skills Max7 and part 2 is going to be aired soon.

Richard Atkinson CEO informed learners and staff he was very proud of their achievements, qualifications and for getting jobs in a really tough economic climate.

Natasha Newton devised a shoot as part of the Hair & Beauty module The Art of Photographic Make up . This was a fantastic day, students & staff worked hard to achieve this creation.

EYS is on track for the implementation of the Study Programme from August 2013.

The study programme is a new education and skills programme for 16-18 year olds at levels 1+2 and will include Traineeships .

The main changes from foundation learning are that more courses will be full time and will focus on 1 main vocational qualification with maths and English.

EYS has been working across our nationwide network of centres for the implementation of the study programme.

Skills max which is EYS s not for profit company has been successfully delivering a Jobcentre Plus programme, the Flexible Support Fund (FSF) which is aimed at 50+ unemployed returners with the objective of getting 50+ year olds back into work or further learning.

Skills Max Ltd has been working in partnership with Aldwyck Housing Association and local micro organisations in Houghton Regis.

DWP/Jobcentre Plus are very pleased with the programme delivery and results the targeted learners are very far from the labour market and many have found sustainable employment.

EYS is in partnership with WSG Associates has been very successful in the delivery of security training for unemployed people in Croydon, South London.

EYS changed delivery of foundation learning to programmes for the unemployed at our Croydon centre.

Jobcentre Plus in Croydon has been making referrals for the 5 x week programme and EYS has been working at full capacity.

EYS pays for the SIA License and badge after learners complete their qualifications and obtain a job offer in the security sector.

EYS is ready for the implementation of the 24+ learning loans which is a new programme form the Skills Funding Agency (SFA) for all 24+ level 3 learners.

EYS has been working with the SFA and the Student Loan s Company for a smooth introduction of this new way of funding level 3 learning for adults.
